Job Title: Teacher ECD (Early Childhood Development)
Location: Meyersdal, Alberton
Reports to: Principal
Summary:
The Teacher ECD will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of young children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and have experience in early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and lessons that support the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of young children.
2. Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters positive relationships and encourages independence and self-expression.
3. Provide individualized attention and support to children with diverse learning needs and abilities.
4. Collaborate with parents and caregivers to support children's learning and development and build strong partnerships between home and school.
5. Maintain accurate records of children's progress, assessments, and observations, and communicate regularly with parents and colleagues about children's growth and development.
6. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in early childhood education and make continuous improvements to teaching practices.
7. Ensure the health and safety of all children in the classroom, including maintaining cleanliness and organization of the learning environment and adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- NQF Level 5
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with young children in an educational setting
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood education curriculum
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual children and create a supportive learning environment
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred
